Chiropractors
You’re in good hands when you visit our chiropractors.
Educational and licensing requirements for Doctors of Chiropractic (DCs) are among the most rigorous of any of the health care professions. This extensive education prepares chiropractors to diagnose health care problems, treat the problems when they are within their scope of practice, and refer patients to other health care practitioners when appropriate.
Our chiropractors went through a curriculum that included hours of classroom, laboratory, and clinical internship over a period of eight years. They also had to pass 4 national board exams administered by NBCE to obtain a license in the state of Indiana. Additionally, our chiropractors must meet yearly continuing education requirements to maintain their license in Indiana and expand their knowledge base.
Prior to attending chiropractic school, all of our chiropractors acquired nearly four years of pre-medical undergraduate college education, including courses in biology, inorganic and organic chemistry, physics, psychology and related lab work. Once accepted into an accredited chiropractic college, the requirements became even more demanding, as they completed another nearly four years of chiropractic specific training and education.
Well-versed in the healing sciences, similar to that of medical doctors, our chiropractors are experts in areas such as anatomy, physiology, rehabilitation, nutrition and public health. Like other primary health care doctors, chiropractic students spend a significant portion of their curriculum studying clinical subjects related to evaluating and caring for patients. Typically, as part of their professional training, they must complete a minimum of a one-year clinical-based program dealing with actual patient care. In total, a chiropractor’s curriculum includes a minimum of 4,200 hours of classroom, laboratory and clinical experience.
